This graphic novel is based on the Strugatsky brothers’ work The Dead Mountaineer’s Hotel, which was adapted for cinema at the Tallinnfilm studio in 1979.
The story follows inspector Peter Glebsky, who is dispatched to a tiny hotel nestled in the Alps. Although the call turns out to be a false alarm, he decides to stay the night. Strange events begin to unfold and one of the guests is soon found dead. The suspects themselves have increasingly bizarre encounters, dying and returning to life or shapeshifting if necessary. A few even claim to be aliens and robots. Caught within this maelstrom, inspector Glebsky strives to stay true to his duties and execute crucial decisions. The guests’ ruin or salvation hangs in the balance.
